OOTD- Welcome Home

Here are some pictures of a very exciting day that I had yesterday! My dad has lived away from us since I was about 12 because he’s in the military and yesterday was the day he moved back home. Me and my boyfriend had some extensive shopping and baking to do, so I had to wear a practical a warm outfit. Even though it’s almost April, it was snowing yesterday. I opted for my Sorel snow boots and some leggings. I also am wearing a jacket that I’ve had forever, I think it might be from Macy’s.

We made some rainbow cupcakes as well. I’ve been watching the Great British Bake Off for Comic Relief and Zoella inspired me to try this. It wasn’t that difficult! It just took a bit of patience.

We also piped the icing on with a ziplock bag and it was much more difficult than I thought it’d be. But it was so much fun making them. My mom and dad were very surprised when they walked in.

I thought this would be a cool day to share with you guys!

I’m hoping the weather gets a bit warmer so I can do more OOTD’s. What do you guys think? Would you like more of these? Let me know!

Bambi Spots

This was just a fun little manicure I did last week that I wanted to share with you! I did a classic French tip, but then dotted underneath the line. I like how it’s a little uneven and imperfect. This is a really easily thing to do with those thin French tip brushes!

Spring “Sneak Peak” Issue of the Gathering magazine

A few days ago I posted about writing and editing for the digital magazine the Gathering, but I wanted to showcase the cover page and give you another link to take a peak into the issue. We are hoping to have a nice big fall issue that people will be interested in! Here is the link for the Spring Sneak Peak. I love the front page picture! Those pumpkin spoons look amazing.

I hope you will be interested in some of the content inside. Easter is coming quickly! I loved seeing the place cards and decorations.

There are also some pieces about fine wines and what they can be served with. I think because this is a lifestyle publication, there is a little something for everyone. I love looking at recipes and what you could make that would be in season. This is also a good sneak peak for a spring or summer wedding. There are menus and stationary ideas set up on the tables. One Fine Day is the event planner that styled the table settings, and she is super talented!

Let me know what you guys think of this.

I know that I am once again posting about this, but I really am proud. This is only our first issue and it’s a sneak peak, but it looks really professional to me. I love working with Blonde On The Run Catering that made all the delicious food for the shoot. These are people who are real professionals working with things they love. It’s such an inspiring environment!

Introducing the Gathering magazine!

proudest moment

I have some very exciting news to share with all of you! I have been working on a project for the past few months, and today it is finally here! I am the editor and writer for a new digital lifestyle magazine called the Gathering. It launched this morning and features spring and Easter themes. I will include the link so you can check it out! I love the magazine and everything that is included in it.

I was very proud to get to a place where I was in charge of editing copy work. As you may know, I was writing a few articles for Hellogiggles and I really enjoyed the idea of being a freelance writer. But to have a project to work on a few times a year is much more exciting! I am so pleased with the work that has gone into it, and I hope you are too. This can be accessed on phones and iPads as well as laptops!

As a junior in college, I think this is a huge accomplishment and I’m happy I could do it while I worked on school. This goes to show if you stay confident and organized in your work, there are endless possibilities. The magazine focuses on lifestyle, food, events, and travel. Even though I am interested in fashion, these things all tie into each other. As a whole, I love the culture and message of the publication. I feel really good about being part of their team.

Since this was a spring issue, we found it appropriate to include a story about Fishers Island Lemonade that is featured in the magazine. There are also Easter centerpieces, fun food, and DIY ideas for the warmer weather. I will also be working with the team on getting a fall issue out later this year. I am beyond excited for what the following months will bring! So far, it has been an amazing learning experience.

Here is the link for the magazine.  Take a look and see what you think! One of my favorite parts are the amazing pictures of the food and table settings. I also love the pumpkin pie spoons! What a great pick-me-up for spring and Easter.

A Fresh Drink For Your Face

I don’t actually drink green tea. It has a lot of caffeine and it tends to be too much for me. However, almost every other human that I know drinks it. It has natural supplements that help with aging and weight loss. Green tea has been quite popular over the past few years!

Today I’ll tell you about a little alternative for your green tea. If you ever have left over tea bags or you feel like trying a little treatment on your face, you can do this.

The tea bag I’m using is the Bigelow Green Tea with Lemon. I wouldn’t recommend using any of the other fruity green teas on your face like pomegranate or something because it might irritate your skin.

Heat up your tea bag in water the way you would if you were making the green tea to drink. After letting it soak a munute or two, take the bag out and dry it. Open the bag up carefully and use the green tea leave to exfoliate into your face and leave on for about five minutes, and you’ll see refreshed and happy skin!

Spring Lookbook 2015

lookbook10lookbook9lookbook8lookbook6lookbook5lookbook4lookbook2lookbook1lookbook12I finally have all the pictures for my Spring Lookbook! I went shopping not too long ago and felt like it was appropriate over spring break to take some pictures.

I was pretty limited as space goes to shoot because there is snow everywhere. I don’t really understand how this keeps happening, but the snow keeping falling down. I guess that’s what you get for living in New England. I made due though, that’s why many pictures were inside. It was difficult with rain/snow to do many outdoor shots.

Also, my dog Rex made a cameo! He ran away right after that was taken and wouldn’t come back. He usually like the camera, but he smelled some food that was more interesting to him. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

11. (New) Blush worn in all pictures: Mac Sheertone Shimmer Blush in “Trace Gold”

As you can tell, I shopped a lot at Target. I’ll be honest, their stuff is very good this season. I found so many trendy things!

I also bought adorable new fairy lights for my room but I forgot to include them. They look like the rustic outdoor ones and I can’t wait to put them up in my dorm. There were many other types of fairy lights at Target like lanterns and flowers.

I hope this gave you some spring inspiration! I needed a pick-me-up after this very cold winter. I can’t wait for the warmer weather. I’ve been trying bronzer and things to warm up my face a bit for preparation. Soon we won’t have to wear tights anymore!

I also wanted to mention that I’ve been using my new Mac blush that is the “Trace Gold” but on me, it’s more like a shimmery bronzer. I use it all over and it gives me a slight glow. If you’re pale and want a bit of color, this is a great blush for you. It’s my first Mac blush, so I’m excited to keep using it!

That’s it for today’s post, I’ll talk to you soon!

March Ipsy Bag

Are you ready for another Ipsy bag?

1. Laneige BB Cushion (Comes with several shades) “Light” “Dark” & “Medium”

This was kind of a strange product to receive. I would rather can concealer than a BB cream (or whatever this is) but I’ll give it a try. I know I’m the lightest shade so I opened the other to see the consistency and it was kind of weird! It looks like a puff saturated in makeup. I’ll try this out maybe tomorrow, but I have no idea how many uses I’ll get out of it. I imagine it might dry up after opening the seal.

2. NYX Lipstick “Hunk”

I wore this yesterday and I am IN LOVE with it. The shade intimidated me because it looks quite dark. But it’s a berry tone that goes really well with paler skin. The pigmentation wasn’t incredible, but it totally works and might stay longer with a lip liner.

3. Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels

You get two samples of these. I kind of wish there were more! I used this yesterday and it felt amazing on my skin, which has been stressed from being so sick lately. This is mainly for de-puffing which I don’t have a huge problem with, but it helps with baggy eyes and mostly just feels cool and refreshing.

4. Coolway Oil Treatment

I am not the biggest fan of hair care items in Ipsy bags to be honest. I’m sure this will be of some use to me, but with hair products you really need more than a tiny sample to see any results. However, I’m glad to have another oil to help my hair with heat protection. Since I’m using Wen, I might take a small break to try this out. It smells nice (if that adds anything).

5. Marykayatplay Eye Crayon “Teal Me More”

This is quite a bright color for an eye crayon! It’s thin enough to be used as a liner (possible) but I’ll see how to incorporate this into a monthly makeup look.

In all, I think this month was a pretty good Ipsy bag. I really enjoy the full-sized lipstick. I think sometimes the samples they give can’t be used very often though. Also, I’m sorry about the decreased quality but I left my good camera at school and I went home for spring break, so bear with me!

Here was last month’s Ipsy bag

Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème Review

I am so pleased to share with you guys me newest obsession (with lipsticks, that is). I splurged on the new Marc Jacobs lipstick line and I was so happy that I did! I’ve never used Marc Jacobs beauty, but I must say that it has amazing staying power and doesn’t feather or bleed. I picked the color “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” and I picked it out very carefully to look right with my very pale skin.

When I first applied this, I did it with an applicator in Sephora, and it went on perfectly. I find it easier to put things on with a brush or applicator of some sort, but I don’t mind putting this lipstick straight on my lips. I also contemplated getting a lip liner with it because I don’t really have one close to this color, which is described as a “baked rose”. But after wearing the sample from Sephora all day and not having any problems, I concluded I don’t really need one. The formulation is very pigmented and buttery. I was mostly afraid that it would be really drying on my lips, but it was moisturizing with great color, I might need to get more!

My February Favorites

February Favorites

I can’t believe it’s already March! I haven’t done a favorites in a few months because with the New Year and the holidays it was a bit crazy. This is a bit late, but these are some things I’ve been loving in February!

Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”

I want to say to Marc Jacobs Beauty, Thank you thank you thank you! I love this so much. I’m obsessed. (There will be a thorough review of this next week!)

Wen Re Moist Intensive Hair Treatment

I use this for damaged hair but it also works well in protecting from heat. I needed a product like this because I just want to deal with one product in my hair at a time and this does it all. Also, it smells delicious!

IBC Root Beer

I like finding sodas that aren’t terribly bad for you. This is my favorite soda flavor! Right now, sodas in a bottle are my favorite drink. This is just a normal root beer flavor, but I love it. They’re so good! They also aren’t that expensive. I think it’s worth it to buy sodas in bulk like this because they make fun movie night drinks.

My iPhone

I’m not sure this counts as a February favorite because I’ve has it since Christmas. But I’m in love with it, and I’ve finally started using my phone for good photos for the first time in a long time!

Aha Shake Heartbreak

Everyone loves this Kings of Leon album and I don’t know why I haven’t listened to the whole thing sooner. This is a great album to listen to in the car because it gives me great vibes for a longer drive.

What have you liked in the month of February?
