What I’m Wearing In May | 2015

Nothing makes my heart flutter like bronze makeup in the summer.

For May, I kept my makeup relatively simple because I was so busy this month! I incorporated the bronze colored powder eye shadow that I got from Ipsy into my makeup by spreading it over my lid (in a very “meant to be messy” way). I love the way the bronze color brings out blue eyes, and I feel like it can look casual for day time if used lightly. Also, my hair is darker now, and this color doesn’t look so harsh on me. It has a red tone to it, and I think it blends effortlessly for any type of look.

I used a very light colors on my lid after spreading the bronze on and just pat it in the middle for some variation of color. I used one of my old basic palettes for this, but many palettes have a color similar to this. The lighter ivory looks so nice with the bronze! This is a combination that always looks good together. I love the way it looks on the center of the lid.

Also, you’ll notice in the picture that there is some fallout under my eye. This is a good lesson to do your concealer afterwards!

I haven’t been using too much eyeliner this month because it’s been hotter. Instead, I use a good amount of mascara. I’ve been loving the Voluminous Butterfly Mascara.

This is a great look for many different things. I wore it for a Memorial Day party just yesterday! I also might wear it out for my birthday dinner this weekend. I love that it can be a day or night look, depending on how you compliment that bronze tone.

I plan on keeping this look for a good amount of the summer!

My Anthropologie Picks: 5/21/15

No matter where you are on your shopping journeys, you must find yourself at Anthropologie.

This is my favorite store. I feel like it completely embodies my style and aesthetic. However, it isn’t always worth the prices. I like to go in every so often and buy myself a few things that I love and be done with it. I compiled a few things that are in stores right now that are totally worth the money, and a lot of the stuff I’ve included is on sale!

What have you bought at Anthro recently?

Interesting & Easy Nail Art

Gold detailing is the new trend.

I wanted to try a nail art that would be interesting, but easy. I had a lot of events to go to this past week and I wanted a great design that people would notice, but it wouldn’t be in your face. This was a really fun design to make! And with concentration, it’s pretty easy too.

I started off with a matte gold polish from Nicole by OPI. I only did one coat of this because it was very thick. You could do two coats if you want a stronger coat. I kind of wish I did this since the tips are chipping away. I’ve also had it on for over a week now.

The next step was taking my Straedtler pen and carefully starting at the tip of my nail and drawing a line. I use more pressure at the tip and as I get closer to the nail bed I let off. This lets it gradually stop. You can make this as messy or neat as you want! It’s really easy and you can try different colors markers if you want too!

After I let the marker dry for awhile, I used a strong topcoat. When I used this over the matte, the finish wasn’t exactly glossy. It was more of a satin finish, but I enjoyed the way it looked. This will work with a normal finish gold polish as well.

I really love this nail look, and many people have liked it too! I wore it to a ceremony, a graduation, and throughout weekend activities.

This can be recreated with other colors like silver polish or even white. But since gold and black are so popular right now, I thought this was very cool!

What do you think? Let me know if you try it and how it comes out!

What’s I’m Using On My Hair | TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Review

TRESemmé recently did a campaign with one of my favorite bloggers and Youtubers, HelloOctober, with these products, and I felt the drive to go right down to the store and get them.

Suzie has really similar hair to mine texture wise, and when I saw how her hair dried naturally when she used the shampoo and conditioner, I thought it’d be worth a try. I’ve always loved the brand and thought you got really good quality for the money spent.

I don’t know exactly how expensive these were, but they are honestly worth it. They aren’t as big as the huge normal TRESemmé bottles that you always see in the store, but they still are big compared to other shampoos. The whole point to these is to give your hair a bit of texture without making your hair crazy. I love this because my hair is quite thick, and I don’t want it to be straight down when it dries, but I don’t want it to be unmanageable either. I’ve been using this for over a week now and have noticed that my hair dries in a nice wavy texture. It also is extremely soft, and the shampoo smells amazing!

Styling wise, I felt like my hair was well protected from any curling or straightening I did. I also just cut four inches off my head, so the styling goes much quicker. However, one of my favorite things to do using these products now is to let me hair air dry and then wear it in a French braid. Then, I sleep in it that night and take it out the next day. I get perfect waves that stay in place for hours.

The shampoo and conditioner really allow your hair to naturally stand on its own. I use Big Sexy Hair’s Powder Play to put into my roots when I do braids and things to give some volume at the crown of my head. I’ve also been into these types of hair ties that look like they have a knot on them (they are much better for your hair too).

In all, I’m so impressed with this shampoo and conditioner. This might be something I repurchase, and I would recommend it for thick hair (since it works well on mine!)

Ipsy Bag May 2015

Another month, another Ipsy bag.

I have to say, maybe it’s because it’s my birthday month, but I am in love with May’s Ipsy bag. Every single thing in it was something I would use. There were no new weird products that had barely anything in them. Everything was an amazing size with great assortment. I’m very pleased!

1. Organic Farm-A-Ceuticals Hair Oil

This stuff is pretty helpful for me since I just got bangs. That requires styling them every time I shower, so I need some protectant. This is organic and all-natural, and it comes with a dropper that is so easy to use!

2. Urban Decay Glide On Lip Pencil “Ozone”

I haven’t given this a try yet. However, it’s a genius idea. I hate matching lip liners to the many colors of lipsticks that I have. Lip liner is an essential if you want your color to stay put, so I’m so pleased with this! I haven’t used it yet, but I can’t wait to. The only weird thing about this is that it has a strange smell. Has anyone else noticed this? (haha)

3. Nuxe Face Cleansing and Make-Up Removing Gel

I’ve used this once and I’m hooked. It’s French, so I’ll need to figure out where I can get it since everything on the label is in another language.

4. Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color

I am really charmed by this product. My other eyebrow pencil was getting down to a nub, so I was so grateful to get this in my bag. But the reason I love it is because it’s so petite and cute! The size of the applicator is very thin, so drawing on brows is super easy. I’ve used it a few times and I love the way it draws on. The writing and everything on the packaging is beautiful, so this is another product I might repurchase.

5. Jesse’s Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust “Brown Sugar”

I haven’t used this yet, but the color looks beautiful and blendable.

What came in your Ipsy bags?

What I’ve Been Up To // 5-16-15

This type of post has been brewing in my brain for awhile now.

I wanted to be able to share with you what I’ve been up to through pictures, and what better way than to show my latest posts on Instagram. This goes back to about 6 weeks ago when I was still in school. Here is what I’ve been doing!

1. Through the school year, I tried to start eating better, and that meant buying fresh fruit every week to snack on. Not only is it tasty, but it looks cute when you put them in mugs and eat them from there.

2. As spring came, so did my trench coats, and I dug out one of my favorite thrift store finds with this Jones of New York pink trench.

3. Mother’s Day was an amazing day, and I got the cutest wrapping paper for my mom’s gifts at TJMaxx. I love putting together gifts and then wrapping them up. My mom loved all her goodies (which consisted of many candles).

4. Another Mother’s Day post was in order as we had a huge brunch with lots of delicious food to celebrate the mom’s in our family.

5. Earlier this week, I moved out of my dorm and said goodbye to my school for the summer. Although I had a hard year, it was still bittersweet to leave. The houses on our campus are beautiful.

6. A shameless selfie I took while trying to unpack my stuff (it still isn’t done). There has been so much to do this week that my procrastination levels have been at an all time high when it comes to putting my clothes away. This is also the last picture of my hair like this! Two days ago I got my hair cut 4 inches, dyed a bit darker, and I got some bangs cut in.

If you want to follow my Instagram, here is the link!

What have you been up to this past spring? I’d love to know how your week has been!

7 Must-Have Apps

This might sound familiar: you are in bed, trying hard to fall asleep early, but you just can’t stop playing Candy Crush (and honestly, you’re probably alternating between that and Trivia Crack). Games on your phone are fun and all, but there are some apps that are seriously helpful for bloggers, and some are just down-right addicting. I’ve compiled some of my favorite apps that I use to waste time or to help enhance my life a little. I haven’t been sponsored by everyone, these are just honestly what I use. I also am not putting and game apps, because this list would be a lot longer…

1. Fancy

This is a shopping app that also shows a bunch of trends from many shops and compiles them into sections, I’ve found it’s great for gifts.

2. Pinterest

I don’t consider this a social media app like Twitter or Instagram, I really think this is an inspiration/time waster. I get totally lost into Pinterest when I use it on the computer. I will spend hours on the mobile app, but some great blogging ideas have come out of it!

3. Adobe Color

This was an app I stumbled upon when I tried to find ways to make color palettes. This is actually featured in my picture in this very blog post. This amazing app will find colors in the pictures that you take. It always gives a cool look when the little bubbles search around the screen and give you different color options. I used this in a few Lush inspiration posts. I think this is a fun app for inspiration or even just to find a specific color scheme for whatever reason.

4. Perlin Draw

This was an interesting little app that I use to mainly get rid of stress. You can draw different designs on the screen and change shape and color options to make the pictures look different. I often use this at night if I’m anxious or even while I wait for class. It isn’t necessarily a game, but it is fun!

5. DailyHoroscope

I can already see the eye rolls. I will be honest, I find astrology fascinating. This is one of the top horoscope apps in case you are feeling celestial and curious.

6. Bloglovin’

I use this to catch up on the blogs that I follow throughout the day. It usually gives me great ideas for what I should write for upcoming posts.

7. Water Lite

A few days ago I was waiting for a meeting and heard some water being poured, but the sound was coming from someone’s phone. It was reminding her to drink more water! I asked for the app because I need to remember to drink much more water so I can feel better throughout the day. This will give you reminders as often as you want, and I love it so far!

Lush Inspiration: Avobath

I’ve fallen in love, and his name is Avobath. This is another repurchase for me, but I indulged in a bath after I had a hard day moving out of my dorm, and it was just what I needed.

This bath bomb doesn’t  have all the bells and whistles that some of the other ones do (ie. seaweed, glitter, confetti hearts) but it still one of my all time favorites. It doesn’t fizz for that long before it’s done, but the color and scent are very strong. This was a good relaxing and fresh bath bomb to use when you’ve been on your feet the whole day. I find that when I use this I can relax easier because the scent is calming but still uplifting. This is a perfect spring-into-summer bath bomb!

Here’s some specs on Avobath:

-perfect for early mornings when you just don’t feel like getting up

-lemongrass scent helps wake your brain up

-has mixed in avocados to bring moisture to your dry skin

-having a foggy brain? this might help you get motivated

-a zesty refresher

Have you used Avobath?

Pamper Your Mom: Last Minute Mother’s Day Gift

mothers day 1md2md3md4md5md6md7md8md9md10

Mother’s Day is great, and it’s just around the corner!

I already picked up a few things for my wonderful mom for Mother’s Day, but it occurred to me that many people are probably way too busy to think of an elaborate gift. There are many of these types of ideas around the blogs lately, but I loved the idea and wanted to give it a go. The reason this is an awesome gift for moms is because they don’t always spend the time and money on themselves that they should. I know my mom has way more priorities than buying a nail file.

This was really easy to make, and everything inside it came from Target!

The jar is from IKEA and they have many different sized of them. All I did was take some thin washi tape from Michaels and carefully wound it around the jar to make a circle. I then looked for some print-outs and found some amazing ones from Elegance and Enchantment that I printed on sticker paper and then cut out.

You really have to be careful when working with the washi, since it tends to go uneven if you aren’t really paying attention. Also, sticker paper won’t hold up if you plan on washing the jar or anything. This is mainly for decoration! I have other gifts for my mom to wrap, and the rest of the sticker will look great on presents. You could even put them in cards or on envelopes.

The scrub that I got is by Shea Moisture and it was on sale, which is awesome because my mom loves lavender scents. I picked out two Essie polishes in “Sunday Funday” (appropriate for Mother’s Day) and “Perennial Chic.” I added the nail file, Nivea lip balm, and fun little moped socks to add more to the “pamper” theme. Then, I found this amazing notepad set in the dollar spot that have a garden theme, complete with a striped pen.

If you try this idea out, let me know how it goes!

Lush Inspiration: Dragon’s Egg

dragon's egg 1Dragon's egg 2dragon's egg 3

Hello everyone, today I am blogging to you while I am very sick in bed. The best time to get sick is not around finals week. The dorm I live in is pretty much filled with gross people, thus resulting in me getting sick a lot.

Anyway, I have some Lush inspiration for you. I really enjoyed doing it last time with the Twilight bath bomb. This time I took on Dragon’s Egg, which I’ve used before and I loved!

Here are some stats on Dragon’s Egg:

-Good for if you need to let off some steam (it really took my anxiety from this terrible week right away)

-A good bath bomb for all of your senses

-Has lemon oil, which is good for toning and refreshing skin

-It’s vibrant, sizzling, and has many sounds, colors, and scents while it’s in the bath

-Good for groggy morning or before an evening out!
