I’m Moving!

Hello everyone,

This title might seem vague and scary, and I guess it sort of is. I’m not moving my geographical location (not yet, anyway), but I am moving across the internet. Sort of.

I’ve had this blog for a long time. I made it when I first started college as a side project to keep myself writing and documenting things I did throughout school. I’ve loved it. I’ve loved the recipes, the outfit posts, even the embarrassing beginning ones (and they do exist).

As I’m graduating in a few short months and applying to jobs and such, I’ve been thinking about what I really want to do and what I want to write about. I love to write, and I want to continue writing online to keep up the momentum. But I just didn’t feel inspired by this space anymore. It felt like I’d grown too big for it, and the themes I wanted to blog about just weren’t matching up.

I wanted to create a new blog for a long time, but since I had gained so many followers on here, I wanted to be able to keep all the readers that I’ve accumulated over time. I felt stuck, and my response was just to kind of not write or upload anything.

For one of my classes, we had to create a new blog that encompassed our style. It could be anything we wanted, and I felt an opportunity opening up for me. The more I thought about this new blog, the more excited I was to do something different. This was the beginning of Heathermoors. I thought long and hard about the blog I wanted to create and I decided that this is what I want, that this is what I want myself to be in a blog, and I’m pleased with it. It’s far from done, in fact the first few posts were posts I had to do for a school project. But I enjoy the pictures, I like the vibe, and I like the name.

If you’re still reading, thank you for making it this far! I’m very proud of my new blog, and I want to take a minute to describe it to you. I want it to be about nature. I want it to be inspired by fashion and beauty and all the things we love, but with lush photography and atmospheric images that conjure up emotions in us that will fill us with passion and joy. I want people to be inspired by every post I make, so the quality standard of what I’m uploading and writing is much higher now.

The name Heathermoors is derived from my name (Heather) and the moors. The moors are my favorite environment, they are fascinating to me. I love looking at Scottish moors, Irish moors, the misty moors of England that inspired books like Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. This is my favorite vibe, and I wanted to incorporate it. My first post illustrates my inspiration, you can see it here.

I’ll be planning on uploading more often and coming up with thoughtful, content-rich blog posts to keep the inspiration up. There’s still a lot of work to do, like changing my bios and all my accounts (like Bloglovin’, Pinterest, Instagram, etc.). But I’m happy to be growing into a new space, and I hope you’ll come along with me. All of my faithful friends on this site have encouraged me to move forward, and I appreciate it whole-heartedly.

If you have any questions or want to talk with me about it, I’ll still be answering comments on here! I’ll also be leaving this site up so all the posts I’ve done through the years are accessible. (There were some great recipes that just can’t be deleted!)

Thanks again for always reading and showing love to this blog. I hope to see and hear from you guys soon.

-Heather

Every so often, I’m convinced I won’t be able to find the joy in life. That sounds heavy, but it’s true.
You’ve probably noticed I hadn’t blogged for awhile. I was dealing with many different things, like school, finals, finding a job, holidays, family, etc. These things weighed on me, and I was brought to a not-so-happy place around the holidays. I wasn’t only absent on my blog, but on most social platforms. I had taken a step away from the internet as much as possible during finals so that I could focus and end the semester proudly. That period of time led to me just not wanting to come back.
I also suffered from a lot of anxiety and spent a lot of my nights holed up in the house. This was not particularly a bad thing, it was just a time to take a step back and take a breath. I think 2015 was a difficult year for me (and many others!) and I was happy to recuperate.
Around New Years, I got some inspiration again. I started seeing a bright future, I had ideas for my blog and for paintings and writings galore. What I mean by telling you this is that sometimes, it’s ok to have time away from your life, even if it was longer than you ever expected you’d be gone. I feel refreshed and new. I have so many ideas, they’re practically leaking out of me. It is certainly a good time.
I’ve created a Polyvore to share with you. It’s just a simple Outfit Of The Day, but you can count it as my return.
See you all soon! Happy New Year.

Introducing Heatherwood Issue No. 1 (Autumn)

Heatherwood Cover.001

If you’re looking for inspiration for fall, for the upcoming holidays, or even just an escape from your everyday life, you can check out my digital magazine. I worked so hard on this and I’m so pleased with the result. The magazine is all about Autumn (which I realize is a little late, but I think it’ll still be exciting.) Inside are illustrations, writing, and photography to help spark something in you. I think this would be perfect for curling up with your tablet or iPad and chilling out for awhile and looking through. Hopefully you feel as cozy reading it as I was making it.

Also, all work in the magazine are mine. There is a written entry and photograph from Bhavika and the link to her blog is in the zine to check out more of her awesome work. I was so happy that anyone submitted anything, and her writing went perfectly with the rest of the material. If you are hanging out today and preparing for Thanksgiving, this might be the perfect thing to help you unwind! Mostly this was just for fun to put all of my work in one place, so I’m happy I can even publish it at all. I’m excited to see what all of you think!

Cozy Weekend//Productive Work

_DSC0297_DSC0289_DSC0293_DSC0295.jpg

I’ve been seriously relaxing all weekend! At school, the project and midterms have been crazy and I was so happy to come home and chill out. I’ve used a lot of Lush and read a lot of books. I’ve also had my fair share of peppermint hot chocolate. I think recharging on the weekends is a great way to get a pep in your step for the week ahead. Not only is my magazine launching, but I have projects for class and Thanksgiving!

I got this amazing tea from the Yankee Candle Factory store in Deerfield and it’s my favorite tea EVER. It’s got chocolate and peppermint, and I added a bit of creamer that was flavored of Crème Brûlée. It was amazing.

I’m sorry about the quality of the pictures for my outfit. I left my tripod at school and had to set me camera on a shelf. The lighting was not ideal. But you get the idea! I liked the chambray-on denim- on paisley. It seemed like a cool combination with a cozy winter coat on top.

Shoes- Converse

Scarf- Urban Outfitters

How has your weekend been? Let me know!

Fall Neutrals

Did you know I’m obsessed with Polyvore? I honestly can’t help but go on and try to make fun outfits or make collections of things. I feel like it’s the perfect site for becoming inspired and being creative. I truthfully go there almost every morning for outfit ideas.
I’m not being sponsored by them at all, I just love playing around with the site and trying new things. I made this collection a few days ago about Fall Neutrals because I needed help finding basic pieces for outfits. This was so fun to make because I could use all my favorite colors and themes for fall and put them in one place. There’s a good amount of outfits in this collection to look through. Most of them are similar to my style or just things I enjoyed looking at!

I know I’ve been posting a lot of Polyvore’s lately, but bear with me! I have a few blog posts ideas to get through and I’m also getting ready to move back to school next week. I’ll be doing a super fun workspace project once I’m moved in.
I hope you liked this set, it reminds me of fall in my native state. Let me know what you think!

Luna Lovegood

Luna Lovegood

Isn’t Polyvore the best way to get your fangirling out when you need to? I love Harry Potter and I watched it the other night while relaxing. I think getting lost in the world with the characters is so fun and sometimes therapeutic.
One of my all-time favorite characters is Luna. She has always been the character I related to because she is so dreamy and optimistic. I also love Luna’s eccentric but nostalgic style. I thought this might be a good representation of what Luna would wear.
