Introducing Heatherwood Issue No. 1 (Autumn)

Heatherwood Cover.001

If you’re looking for inspiration for fall, for the upcoming holidays, or even just an escape from your everyday life, you can check out my digital magazine. I worked so hard on this and I’m so pleased with the result. The magazine is all about Autumn (which I realize is a little late, but I think it’ll still be exciting.) Inside are illustrations, writing, and photography to help spark something in you. I think this would be perfect for curling up with your tablet or iPad and chilling out for awhile and looking through. Hopefully you feel as cozy reading it as I was making it.

Also, all work in the magazine are mine. There is a written entry and photograph from Bhavika and the link to her blog is in the zine to check out more of her awesome work. I was so happy that anyone submitted anything, and her writing went perfectly with the rest of the material. If you are hanging out today and preparing for Thanksgiving, this might be the perfect thing to help you unwind! Mostly this was just for fun to put all of my work in one place, so I’m happy I can even publish it at all. I’m excited to see what all of you think!

Here is the link to Heatherwood. Enjoy!

Zine Launch Date

Quite an exiting title, isn’t it? I can’t believe I am almost ready to realize my first online magazine.

If you didn’t know already, I’ve been drawing and painting and writing, and then putting that collection of things into an online magazine. It isn’t anything fancy and I’m not making money off of it, but it’s been creatively exciting! It is all about Autumn, which is my favorite season of all time.

I had submissions open for the magazine, but they are officially closed. The launch of the digital zine will be the day before Thanksgiving, which is Wednesday, November 25th. I think this is the perfect day to read it and be cozy while having time off for Thanksgiving. In between making yummy meals, you can flip through and hopefully be inspired.

I am finishing everything for the zine in the time until it launches, and I’m so excited to share it with you.

Deadline For Digital Magazine Submissions

Hello everyone!
I wanted to let you know that the deadline for submissions to my digital magazine will be a week from today on Friday, November 20th.

Submissions can be artwork, photography, writing pieces, poetry, or even recipes and DIY’s.

I’m hoping to get the magazine ready before Thanksgiving. I hope you enjoy it!

To send me things for the magazine, email me at

I can’t wait to make the magazine!

My Typical School Day

Happy weekend everyone! I thought while we are having a beautiful relaxing weekend, I could take you through my typical school day.

I actually took pictures during my busiest day, where I have three classes, one meeting, and 0 time to eat. My first and favorite thing to do on a busy day is pick out an outfit that makes me feel happy but will get me through a long day. I picked this dress that I got from a boutique and I love the collar and fall colors of it! I also paired it with a scarf from Urban Outfitters that was light but warmed me up.

Underneath my scarf, I was wearing a few necklaces. This is one of my absolute favorite necklaces that my boyfriend got for me (he actually made the other one, which you can’t see here). This tree branch necklace is from Anthropologie, and it made me feel like I was in the forest.

In between my busy classes during the day, I tried to get as much painting done as possible. If you didn’t know, I’m currently working on material for a little art magazine, and if you’re interested you can check out my post about it here! I’ve been creating things all week for it, so I got some new paints and was trying something new. I can’t wait to share with you what I’ve made for this, and you can make things for it too!

I also had a counselor meeting today, and I had to take a picture to show you the gorgeous building that it’s in because I can’t believe how lucky I am to have such a beautiful campus.

Anyway, I hope your weekends are going great. Let me know what you’re up to!

Submissions Open for Fall/Winter Magazine 2015!

Tomorrow is the first official day of Autumn and I’m celebrating with some exciting news! I have decided to start a very small mixed content magazine about the fall season. This will be online and all free, it’s just to display my artwork and personal writings.

However, I think it would be so fun to have some people contribute to it as well so there are more stories and work to be seen. None of this will be paid or advertised, it’s simply to enjoy yourself and celebrate Autumn and Winter. As of right now, the theme I’m going for is Fall and Winter seasons (emphasis on fall). If anyone would like to submit any work, please send it to me and I can look through it and find a good place in the magazine. The drawing I’ve included will be the main theme/idea of the magazine, so hopefully it can inspire you. All drawings will be scanned and put into JPEGs for the mag.

Some cool ideas for submissions might be:

  • Poetry/Writings
  • Photography
  • Drawings/Paintings
  • Any other inspired works

If you’re interested, please send me an email at:

There isn’t a deadline as of now, but when i decide it’s getting close to when I’m publishing, I’ll let you know. I hope this is an exciting adventure that we can share together!

The Gathering Magazine| Fall Issue 2015

This past week has had it’s ups and downs, simply because moving and changing your life around can be hard.

I have to say though, this is one of the most exciting things to happen yet! Our fall edition of the Gathering Magazine (a lifestyle and event mag) has finally arrived and it is jam packed with exciting Autumn features.

Inside, there are amazing fall recipes for Thanksgiving, or if you’re just in the mood to create something wonderful. Inside, there are articles I wrote featuring the amazing Apotheker’s Kitchen and a small article on the amazing foundation, The Pink Agenda. I honestly had so much fun talking to these guys and really getting into their work. There is some inspiring stuff in this issue!

If you’re curious, take a look at the magazine here and see if you’d like to buy a copy of this issue or possibly subscribe for future issues. And as always, let me know what you think!

Spring “Sneak Peak” Issue of the Gathering magazine

A few days ago I posted about writing and editing for the digital magazine the Gathering, but I wanted to showcase the cover page and give you another link to take a peak into the issue. We are hoping to have a nice big fall issue that people will be interested in! Here is the link for the Spring Sneak Peak. I love the front page picture! Those pumpkin spoons look amazing.

I hope you will be interested in some of the content inside. Easter is coming quickly! I loved seeing the place cards and decorations.

There are also some pieces about fine wines and what they can be served with. I think because this is a lifestyle publication, there is a little something for everyone. I love looking at recipes and what you could make that would be in season. This is also a good sneak peak for a spring or summer wedding. There are menus and stationary ideas set up on the tables. One Fine Day is the event planner that styled the table settings, and she is super talented!

Let me know what you guys think of this.

I know that I am once again posting about this, but I really am proud. This is only our first issue and it’s a sneak peak, but it looks really professional to me. I love working with Blonde On The Run Catering that made all the delicious food for the shoot. These are people who are real professionals working with things they love. It’s such an inspiring environment!

Introducing the Gathering magazine!

proudest moment

I have some very exciting news to share with all of you! I have been working on a project for the past few months, and today it is finally here! I am the editor and writer for a new digital lifestyle magazine called the Gathering. It launched this morning and features spring and Easter themes. I will include the link so you can check it out! I love the magazine and everything that is included in it.

I was very proud to get to a place where I was in charge of editing copy work. As you may know, I was writing a few articles for Hellogiggles and I really enjoyed the idea of being a freelance writer. But to have a project to work on a few times a year is much more exciting! I am so pleased with the work that has gone into it, and I hope you are too. This can be accessed on phones and iPads as well as laptops!

As a junior in college, I think this is a huge accomplishment and I’m happy I could do it while I worked on school. This goes to show if you stay confident and organized in your work, there are endless possibilities. The magazine focuses on lifestyle, food, events, and travel. Even though I am interested in fashion, these things all tie into each other. As a whole, I love the culture and message of the publication. I feel really good about being part of their team.

Since this was a spring issue, we found it appropriate to include a story about Fishers Island Lemonade that is featured in the magazine. There are also Easter centerpieces, fun food, and DIY ideas for the warmer weather. I will also be working with the team on getting a fall issue out later this year. I am beyond excited for what the following months will bring! So far, it has been an amazing learning experience.

Here is the link for the magazine.  Take a look and see what you think! One of my favorite parts are the amazing pictures of the food and table settings. I also love the pumpkin pie spoons! What a great pick-me-up for spring and Easter.

What do you think?

Zooey Deschanel for Glamour!

I think we should just admire the great Zooey Deschanel, (my idol, my role model) for Glamour this month!! Zooey was the cover girl for Glamour magazine, here are her shots from the photo shoot.

I’ll sum up some of the interview:

When asked about going from movies to a TV show, Zooey said, “Some of the smartest people run the network I’m on. People sometimes say “Oh, you were a movie star”, and I’m like, “No, I was a supporting actress.”

When asked about her iconic style and how she came about it, she says, “I’m just, I like that. Let’s do that”.

When asked about her critics for her openly feminine and also feminist lifestyle, Zooey says, “There is not an ounce of me that believes any of that crap that they say. We can’t be feminine and be feminists and be successful?”

When asked about her weight and the Hollywood image: “Women I admired growing up – Debra Winger, Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep – were all beautiful and thin, but not too thin”. Amen.

When asked if she gives advice to her friends, she says, “It depends on the people. Everyone has to make compromises”.

Anyway, I LOVE Zooey, and thought the photo shoot was fresh and fun. Give me some feedback on the pictures, the article, or Zooey!
