Winter Blues Haul

_DSC0020

I’m sure you’ve heard people talk about how fast Christmas came and went, so  much so that everyone is sounding like a broken record. But can I just say it? Wow, that was fast! As you know if you read my last post, I took a well-needed break from the internet and social media (and this blog, consequently) so once the holidays were over, I wanted to get excited for this coming year.

I don’t think many people would say winter is their favorite season. It’s cold and in a lot of places, there is a lot of snow. Some like the winter for the holidays, and once they are over, so is their love for the season. I’m here to rescue you from that.

I recently bought a lot of things with money from Christmas that I intentionally got to get excited for the rest of the season. I actually love winter. I love the cold. I love the snow. I love it all. But there are times that I get a little sad when the days get dark so easily and I feel like hibernating as if I were a bear.

Here were the things I got! I hope you enjoy, they are all very random, but are guaranteed to make you feel better about the rest of the winter season.

Milani Lipstick in No. 66 “Matte Passion”

What’s better to make you feel good than buying some new makeup? I decided I would go for a lipstick to get me excited for winter outfits. Because most of my winter lip colors are dark reds or bright, Christmasy reds, I decided on this one because of it’s orange tint. I think it’s appropriate to liven up your dark outfits, and it’ll be an easy transition for spring. I’m currently also in denial about how many red lipsticks I have, and justify it by telling myself they are technically different hues.

Forever 21 Pajama Flannel

I love flannel for winter (who doesn’t) and I also love it for sleepwear. I got beautiful pairs of pajamas for Christmas that I adore, but I was looking for something I could lounge around in without getting hot. I found this tunic-type of flannel and it’s almost like a night gown, but more of a long night-shirt. It keeps me warm and I can layer it with leggings or long socks, but at night, it’s cool enough to sleep in. I always get hot at night (especially my legs) and I love having this on for the right about of comfort. Also, it makes me look cute and wintry, so I can make excuses for why I’m in pajamas all day.

SkinnyDip Phone Case

So, I know I got a new phone case in May and it’s by my favorite stationary makers ever, Rifle Paper & Co. And I know I don’t really need a new phone case. But this was the coolest thing I had ever seen. The glittery and stars inside of the case move around because there is a layer of water, so it’s like a glittery lava lamp for your phone. Yes, that’s right, a glittery lava lamp for your phone. I think I’m going to switch between the two cases because they are both awesome. But this one just really fuels my nerd obsession with space and looks lovely.

Chalk and Cork Board Wall Set (From Target)

I think we all wait until spring until we clean because after the holidays we are in this weird Christmas hangover where we are depressed and mostly lazy. I let most of my stuff accumulate and it gets really really stressful until I finally get the courage to clean it all. While organizing, I decided to get something for my wall that could be decorative but also keep me in line with cleaning and projects, so I got this from Target!

Animal Crossing City Folk

I really needed to get a new game to get me through this vacation, and since I love Animal Crossing New Leaf, I decided to try out City Folk. I use this on my WiiU and it’s actually very relaxing after a long hard day of eating chocolate and sleeping to create an imaginary digital town (nerd alert).

What have all of you bought since Christmas? Hopefully these suggestions will help you get through the rest of winter!

Makeup I Wore In November

_DSC0299_DSC0301_DSC0302nailstopcoat

Hello there my lovelies! If you’re in the states, Happy Thanksgiving! I’ve just got done preparing a lot of food and treats and finally took a break to upload this. It’s so nice when you can take a break in between peeling potatoes and frosting a cheesecake. I wanted to share with you the makeup I’ve worn this month!

I’ve gone for a lot of natural brown colors this month with hints of gold here and there. I think it’s appropriate for November since next month will probably decked out in holiday goodness.

Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Palette- I’ve actually been using this every single day for over two weeks. Just look at those colors, gorgeous and still very natural for day time!

Luxie Eyeshadow, Color No. 290- I swatched this color all the way to the left of the colors from the palette so you can see how it looks on the skin. It’s a beautiful red-toned brown which is perfect for in your crease or under the eye. It’s a very normal looking brown, but it’s a great staple and I love it!

Essie Polish in “Summit of Style”- I actually bought this at Ocean State Job Lot and got an incredible price, so check there if you ever want cheap Essie! This gave an amazing gold foil effect that I love so much. I think it’s a great color of fall and a good transition for holiday nail art.

Seche Top Coat- I’m just not sure what I used before this. No matter what polish I put on, this keeps it in place without any chips. I think this time of year is hard as it gets cold and we are hard on our brittle nails (ew). But I keep repurchasing this and honestly will never use anything else. A wonderful product for any Christmas nail art that you want to save. Highly recommend that you buy this, or ask for it for Christmas!

What makeup/beauty products have you been using in November? Let me know!

Makeup I’ve Been Wearing in October

IMG_2287

Something about wearing neutrals on your eyelids with a bit of glitter just screams “October!” to me. This month I’ve been trying to wear a natural eye look because my schedule is crazy and I honestly don’t have time for anything else. I found that with some earthy browns and minimal liner, you can get a nice fall style without going all out. I also have been pairing my simple eye with this cream blush that gives a rosy, natural tint to my cheeks.

Now that the weather is officially cold, I have fallen in love with my Lorac Pro palette again to give me that earthy vibe.

Lorac Pro Palette- If you still haven’t bought one of these, what are you doing?! The colors are glittery and extremely pigmented if you want an extra shine for a special night. But for everyday, my favorites have been taupe and black, which give a dark and rustic vibe. I also love the red tones in this palette, they remind me of the turning trees.

Natural & Organic Cream Blush- I never thought I’d be using this product as much as I have. I’m always skeptical with cream blushes because I doubt my ability to blend. But I actually feel like this formula gives you a lot of control and is very buildable. I generally think brushes are a good idea to blend cream blush, but since this is so small, I have to use my fingers. I warm the product up first and then dot it on my cheekbones before blending lights with my fingers. I usually build it up to a nice rosy flush, so I apply it twice.

What have you been wearing during October? PS! Sorry for picture quality. I left my camera at home.

Real Techniques Starter Set 2.0 Brushes | Review

brushes_DSC0239_DSC0240_DSC0241_DSC0242

Three day weekends really get me all mixed up.

I was positive today was Monday! I realized I had a blog post to put up for today and scrambled to get the pictures up. Basically, I was in desperate need of new makeup brushes. There’s nothing wrong with my old ones, but I need more of them. I never ever wash mine, and because of this, they are disgusting and my face breaks out. With more brushes to use, there is less dirty brushes and more time to clean some.

I only have one real techniques brush, and it’s actually one that came in this, so now I have two but I don’t even care.

The first one pictured is the Deluxe Crease Brush. I used this a couple days ago to put a very glittery shadow into my crease. All my other crease or blending brushes are quite small, and I was happy that this evenly blended every line. I hate having to go over the same spot over and over until it’s even. This brush made that so quick and simple, I was done in no time.

The second one is the Base Shadow Brush. I used this to pack on a shadow that isn’t usually pigmented, and it was a dream. It caught all the product and didn’t just fluff it around. Everything stayed right in the center of my eyelid. I have a few brushes that I use specifically for this, but this one is by far my favorite. I’m so happy to have another one in my collection. A basic shadow brush is always needed, and I never have a clean one.

The third one is the Brow Brush. I admittedly didn’t use this for my brows. The brush was way too big for them! I have a brow brush (MAC 266) and I never stray from it. But this is an excellent liner brush. There are a lot of times I want to use a shadow as a liner and this gives a perfectly straight line without being too harsh. It’s also perfect for getting on your lower lash line. I always needed a good brush for this, but my 266 was way too thin!

The last brush is the Fine Liner Brush. This is the brush I already had, but it’s also the brush I have to clean the most. Since this is for liner, you really have to clean it right after use or it gets disgusting, and this thing brush gives a straight, precise line every single time.

Have you used these? I know they are SUPER popular and I’m really late to the game, but I want to know your opinions.

Makeup I’ve Been Wearing In September

_DSC0205_DSC0206_DSC0207_DSC0212

Hello everyone! Happy Saturday.

I did a little post on the makeup that I wore all throughout September. For me, it’s been about neutral eyes, a creamy blush, and a neutral lip. This allows you to play around with eyeliner or even some sparkly shadows to go with the neutral colors.

I used all Ipsy products in this today. The eyeshadow palette by Nyx is amazing!!! I’ve mainly been using that light sparkly color all the way to the left. It gives a nice base without packing on a huge amount of color.

I also have been using the cream blush. I’ve been getting better at blending it and making the apples of my cheeks just rosy enough without being too much. This color is perfect for fall!

Lastly, I’ve been smudging this lip crayon onto my lips. It’s a little strong when you put it on heavily because it’s matte and very pale. But for an everyday look, I just use my finger to blend it out, and it looks very natural.

What makeup have you been wearing this past month?

October Changes

_DSC0195_DSC0193_DSC0197_DSC0200_DSC0202_DSC0204

Just a little FYI that it’s officially October.

I still can’t really believe it! I love this time of year and the first day of October for me was very chilly. It was so nice to wake up on a new month and be able to wear jackets again!

I shot a few things that have changed in my life now that the spooky month has begun. One of them is that amazing calendar, I love the colors and the quote!

If you are looking to be inspired for fall by some makeup palettes, I would go take a look at the classic Naked Palette by Urban Decay. I wanted something Autumnal for October 1st, and I was so excited to use the colors in this. Just look at those warm browns, golds, and pinks. You can’t go wrong with this one. The sparkly colors are to die for.

I used three colors on my eyelid: Sidecar all over the lid, Toasted in my crease, and Sin in my inner corners and on the center of the lid. The colors together gave a rosy, shimmery feel.

I also put up my Halloween lights! I got these pumpkin ones last year, but I found the orange LED’s at Walmart for $5.

Another change was one of my favorite wardrobe shifts. I was actually able to wear shorts with tights yesterday!

At my dorm, someone put these adorable fall stickers on our windows and I had to take a picture.

What are some changes in your life now that October has rolled around?

September Ipsy Bag 2015

IMG_2182IMG_2183IMG_2184IMG_2185IMG_2186IMG_2187IMG_2188IMG_2189IMG_2190

Nyx 3 Color Shadow Palette

I used this palette yesterday when I went to a huge fall festival and it was perfect! The colors were Autumnal and it was super easy to do a smokey eye.

Bayberry Naturals Rosehip & Hibiscus Moisturizer

I haven’t used this yet, but I love the look and feel of it at first look!

Evelyn Ona Cream Blush in “Ash”

I used this yesterday with the palette and I really loved the color. The only issue with this is that it’s quite small and I can never get enough on my finger without getting it under my nail. If it was slightly bigger, it also might be easier to blend. I was putting some on my hand and then warming that up before putting it on my face. This color is rusty and perfect for fall. After a few minute of blending on my cheeks, it was the perfect warm pink.

Not Soap Radio Revitalization Hand/Body Lotion in the scent “Persimmon + Plum”

I used this lotion immediately since my hands have been so dry and I was so impressed. Not only did it work to moisturize my skin, the scent was addicting, and I think I might try to track down a full-sized version!

TrèStique Mini Matte Lip Crayon in “Nantucket Nude”

I haven’t used this yet, but I am very curious about it since the other crayons I’ve got from this company were amazing. This color is a nude type of shade that I haven’t worn before, but I’m still experimenting how it will work with my skin tone.

What did you get in your monthly boxes in September? I also apologize for camera quality, I left my good one at school! This does the job though.

Korean & Drugstore Makeup Haul

Beauty Haul_DSC0151_DSC0152_DSC0160_DSC0154_DSC0155_DSC0156_DSC0157_DSC0158_DSC0159

Do you ever have those times when you know you need to try something new with your beauty products? I was inspired by Jenn Im (from ClothesEncounters on Youtube) to try some awesome Korean products. I also bought a few new things at the drugstore and thought I’d throw them into this haul as well. Collectively, this is what I’ll be wearing most of the time this season. All the products I got will carry me through Autumn, which is what I’d hoped!

I ordered the Korean products through eBay and Amazon because the actual websites didn’t ship to the US. I also did have to wait a few weeks for them to get to me, but it was worth it. All the brands I’ll discuss individually, but I thought they were so exciting! Just look at the packaging!

  1. Dinoplatz Lost Identity Lip Color- Ok, this thing is insanely cool. The color of this is a mint green, but on your skin it will adjust to your body temperature. You can see in the picture that it was a rosy pink, but I’ve worn it a few times and it is slightly lighter or darker depending on the day.
  2. Banila Co. Lumiere Quad Eyeshadow Palette- I swatched these colors so you can see better how absolutely stunning they are. The palette seems to be a winter theme (hence the snowflake packaging) but the colors are all browns, golds, and rosy undertones that are my go-to’s for fall.
  3. Skinfood Premium Tomato Cool & Dry Sun Spray (SPF 50+)- I know that summer is over, but sunscreen is always important, especially for extremely pale people like yours truly. When I get up in the morning to run, I generally wear short sleeves and the sun is beaming down on me. This spray is incredible because it’s dry, so there’s no grease or moisture that’s unnecessary.
  4. Rimmel 2-1 Concealer & Highlighter- This is actually not my first time using this product, but I rediscovered it and I’m so happy I did! If you ever want a concealer that works to hide discoloration under the eyes but also gives a highlight to your cheekbones, check this one out.
  5. Sally Hanson Miracle Gel in “Crème de la Crème”- I’m just gonna say it, I think this is my new favorite nail polish. While this isn’t very Autumnal, this color is the perfect neutral that goes with everything, and I’m thinking of stocking up on it while I can.

Tell me what you thought of the haul! Have you used any of these products before? I’m curious about the Korean beauty.

What I’ve Been Wearing| August 2015

makeup augustaugust makeupmakeup swatches

-Let’s all pretend for a moment that August isn’t nearly over. Where has the time gone?!

This is the makeup I’ve been wearing this month. I have been all over the Lorac Pro Palette because there are so many neutrals that make any eye look amazing. I’ve been using the bronzy pigment that I’ve told you about countless times all over the center of my lid, and then going in with the highlights in my corner to gives some sheen. The darker colors I use in my crease and carry underneath on my lower lash line for definition. I put all of the colors for this look on my arm so you can see the variation.

What have you been wearing this month for makeup? I’m sure everyone is excited for fall makeup soon!

Ipsy| August 2015

ipsy augustIpsy lipIpsy hairIpsy eyelinerIpsy eyeliner 2Ipsy nailIpsy nail 2Ipsy primer

Ipsy is one of those things that just brightens up the middle of your month.

As it’s the end of summer, this will be my last Ipsy bag before returning to school! I can’t believe the fall is almost here. I was so happy with my Ipsy bag this month. I can’t wait to share what I got with you!

Hikari Lip Gloss in  “Merlot”

I actually wore this lip gloss yesterday and I was in love with it. True to its name, the color looks like a deep wine. I love the pigmentation, but it is quite dark for summer. Fall will be a perfect time to wear this!

BWC Leave-in Conditioner

I used this once and I think it really made a difference. You use this after you’ve washed your hair and you keep it in until you’re done styling. I tried blow-drying my hair straight after using this, and my hair was significantly less frizzy. This says a lot for me because my hair becomes a frizz ball pretty easily! The summer humidity makes it worse, so this was an impressive product.

Starlooks Eyeliner Pen

You guys, this was AMAZING. I used it yesterday and I quickly swiped it on, and miraculously the liner was flawless! I didn’t have to fix either side. The tip of the pen is so easy to use, I was blown away! Removing it was very easy too, as it didn’t stick to my skin the way my usual liquid liner does.

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in “Elegantly Wasted”

I put this beautiful shade on my nails last night and I’m in love. I think these powdery colors are perfect for in-between seasons because they are the perfect hue. This is a grey/periwinkle that will go with everything at any time of year.

Jesse’s Girl Eye Shadow Primer

I used this yesterday and today on my eyelids and have mixed feelings about this. It probably does a great job if you have a simple makeup look, but as far as liner and more complicated shadow goes, it transfers a little bit. Then again, it is significantly cheaper than Urban Decay’s Primer Potion, which I use all the time.

What did you think of your beauty boxes this month?
