I’m Moving!

Hello everyone,

This title might seem vague and scary, and I guess it sort of is. I’m not moving my geographical location (not yet, anyway), but I am moving across the internet. Sort of.

I’ve had this blog for a long time. I made it when I first started college as a side project to keep myself writing and documenting things I did throughout school. I’ve loved it. I’ve loved the recipes, the outfit posts, even the embarrassing beginning ones (and they do exist).

As I’m graduating in a few short months and applying to jobs and such, I’ve been thinking about what I really want to do and what I want to write about. I love to write, and I want to continue writing online to keep up the momentum. But I just didn’t feel inspired by this space anymore. It felt like I’d grown too big for it, and the themes I wanted to blog about just weren’t matching up.

I wanted to create a new blog for a long time, but since I had gained so many followers on here, I wanted to be able to keep all the readers that I’ve accumulated over time. I felt stuck, and my response was just to kind of not write or upload anything.

For one of my classes, we had to create a new blog that encompassed our style. It could be anything we wanted, and I felt an opportunity opening up for me. The more I thought about this new blog, the more excited I was to do something different. This was the beginning of Heathermoors. I thought long and hard about the blog I wanted to create and I decided that this is what I want, that this is what I want myself to be in a blog, and I’m pleased with it. It’s far from done, in fact the first few posts were posts I had to do for a school project. But I enjoy the pictures, I like the vibe, and I like the name.

If you’re still reading, thank you for making it this far! I’m very proud of my new blog, and I want to take a minute to describe it to you. I want it to be about nature. I want it to be inspired by fashion and beauty and all the things we love, but with lush photography and atmospheric images that conjure up emotions in us that will fill us with passion and joy. I want people to be inspired by every post I make, so the quality standard of what I’m uploading and writing is much higher now.

The name Heathermoors is derived from my name (Heather) and the moors. The moors are my favorite environment, they are fascinating to me. I love looking at Scottish moors, Irish moors, the misty moors of England that inspired books like Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. This is my favorite vibe, and I wanted to incorporate it. My first post illustrates my inspiration, you can see it here.

I’ll be planning on uploading more often and coming up with thoughtful, content-rich blog posts to keep the inspiration up. There’s still a lot of work to do, like changing my bios and all my accounts (like Bloglovin’, Pinterest, Instagram, etc.). But I’m happy to be growing into a new space, and I hope you’ll come along with me. All of my faithful friends on this site have encouraged me to move forward, and I appreciate it whole-heartedly.

If you have any questions or want to talk with me about it, I’ll still be answering comments on here! I’ll also be leaving this site up so all the posts I’ve done through the years are accessible. (There were some great recipes that just can’t be deleted!)

Thanks again for always reading and showing love to this blog. I hope to see and hear from you guys soon.

Crisp Mornings & Witchy Socks

Clearly, I’m on a sweater kick this fall.

I took some pictures of the details of my morning yesterday because it felt like a beautiful day. The weather is getting really chilly, to the point where layering is necessary. I walked out the door and could feel my nose being tickled by the crisp air. The trees where I live are letting go of the last of their leaves, but some are hanging on. They have beautiful colors and textures to them. It truly feels like it’s the week of Halloween.

There is also a cloudiness that surrounds us now, because the golden fall days are behind us. Now are the cloud grey days that will stay for awhile. Truly, I don’t really mind it, because it makes for great pictures.

I got these awesome socks at the store Francesca’s. They were having a deal for accessories and I splurged on some socks at the beginning of the season. With my black chelsea boots, I thought they looks kind of witchy.

I wore my cape from Forever 21 with the new H&M sweater that I just bought. I’ve had this cape for so long, and it’s still so warm and great for fall. I love the look of the grey cape and the grey sweater, because the different materials are a beautiful contrast together.

How are you enjoying your week before Halloween?

New Favorite Clothing Piece: Vintage Style Bird Shirt

birdsbird shirtbird closeup

Hello everyone!

I officially have a new favorite piece of clothing in my wardrobe, and that is this little shirt full of birds.

I put “vintage” in the title in order to sound really indie, but this actually came from Forever 21. It does have the vintage vibe though, since the bird illustrations almost look painted on. I said this when I was wondering in there and it was one of those things that you feel the need to buy as soon as you see it. I didn’t care the price (even though I’m sure it was only $12) and marched right over to the register. It has a loose fit, and the sleeves are quarter length. It is pretty universally flattering and I’ve worn it with many different types of outfits! I even featured it in my Winter Lookbook which you can see here! I also noticed while buying it that I was wearing tights with little foxes on them and realized I have an unsettling amount of clothes with tiny animals on them.

Anyway, it’s quite sheer and goes with many things since the birds have mostly neutral colors on them. I think it goes well with my hair because the birds are pretty much the same colors in my hair (as you can see in the last picture). I wore it today with my new Kate Spade necklace (which was one of my awesome presents from my boyfriend) and it looks adorable with the shirt! I’ve noticed a lot of rustic-woodland-animal styles going on at the moment and this is a great addition to that look without breaking the bank. I’ve seen a few animal shirts and places like Anthropologie that go for $60+ but if you really dig around Forever 21 you’ll find some really great things. I think for awhile I was opposed to the store because they have so much stuff that honestly is crap, but they also have many gems in there as long as your looking with an open mind. I wore this with some new boots and it always looks good! I’ve been wearing it so much I thought it deserved a blog post. I’m also sorry I haven’t been on here as often, but with the holidays came many busy days and nights and I didn’t have the time to properly take some good photos and write up a post. I’d like to know how everyone’s holidays were? Have you guys seen the crazy sales in stores after Christmas? There was an incredible sale in Urban Outfitters and I ended up buying some great jeans. I hope everyone is having a great break and relaxing with the people they love.

More Spring/Summer Inspiration

Now both of these outfits are so different, but I love both styles so much. In the spring, I tend to head towards the LC outfit, with a fresh bright color and the rest of my outfit clean cut. This is such great inspiration for going into the warmer weather. When I get to summer, I tend to like the grungy long haired, hat wearing, beach and shorts style. (Can you tell I’m itching for warmer weather?)

What do you like to wear in the spring and summer?
